This neutral grey filter reduces the intensity of visible light. It is particularly useful for lunar observations and provides a quality alternative to inexpensive lunar filters.

The filter can also be useful for planetary observations by reducing glare. It may be used to further dim the solar disc, but **only in combination with an ND 5.0 solar film filter**. When observing the Sun through large-aperture telescopes, the image at full aperture may appear very bright. **This grey filter alone is not safe for solar observation.**

The filter transmits 13% of incoming light and has an optical density of OD 0.9.
