NexImage 20 is one of the best solutions for capturing images of the Solar System, providing impressive detail and producing images that rival cameras costing hundreds of times more. It's a great way to start out in astrophotography—even from light-polluted city skies. If you can see a planet through a telescope, you can photograph it with the NexImage 20!
Advanced Sensor Technology
It is based on the Onsemi AR2020 sensor, which is optimized for low light conditions with 1.4 µm square pixels on a 7.3 x 5.4 mm sensor. This combination provides impressive sensitivity (8.7 ke⁻/lux-sec) and allows for capturing fine surface details, even when atmospheric visibility is not perfect.
Includes a free Celestron iCap software download to precisely adjust exposure, gain, frame rate, and other parameters, unleashing the sensor's full potential.
Easy Setup
Even if you are completely new to astroimaging, getting started with the NexImage 20 is quick and simple. After installing the driver and iCap software, assemble the camera by attaching it to the included 1.25-inch adapter. Then, place it in the telescope's eyepiece holder, connect the USB-C cable to the camera, and connect the USB-A end to your computer. That's it; you are ready to capture your first high-resolution images and videos!
Region of Interest for Speed and Efficiency
For capturing full moons or solar images, a large part of the NexImage 20 sensor will be used. But when you point the telescope at planets, the region of interest (ROI) feature is crucial. Instead of using the entire sensor, ROI allows you to crop the image to focus only on your target. This increases the frame rate, providing smoother video while reducing file size. It also speeds up post-processing, especially when stacking multiple frames.
CAPTURE ULTRA-HIGH RESOLUTION IMAGES AND VIDEOS: Intuitive yet powerful, this camera captures detailed 20 MP (5240 x 3840) images and smooth AVI video of planets, the Moon, and the Sun (with solar filter). Easily stack frames, create high-quality prints, or share results online.
HIGH-PERFORMANCE SENSOR FOR SHARPER DETAILS: The Onsemi AR2020 back-illuminated CMOS sensor features 1.4 μm pixels on a 7.3 x 5.4 mm sensor. With 8.7 ke−/lux-sec sensitivity, it captures sharp details even in challenging visibility conditions.
DIRECTLY COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR TELESCOPE: The NexImage 20 can be directly inserted into your telescope's 1.25-inch eyepiece holder with the included adapter—no adapters needed. Capture sharp, high-resolution photos and smooth planetary videos directly at the focal plane.
FOCUSED DETAIL WITH REGION OF INTEREST (ROI): Crop the frame to capture only your target—ideal for small objects like planets. ROI increases frame rates for smoother video, reduces file size, and accelerates stacking and post-processing.
EASY USB CONNECTION WITH YOUR COMPUTER: Simply connect the NexImage 20 to your Windows computer using the included USB-A to USB-C cable.
DUAL FUNCTION: IMAGING + AUTOGUIDING: The NexImage 20 also functions as a powerful autoguider, helping the telescope stay fixed on the target during long-exposure astrophotography. For advanced users with additional guiding hardware, it adds precise tracking to your configuration.
INCLUDED iCAP SOFTWARE: Capture, view, and save your images and videos with iCap—Celestron's dedicated imaging software for NexImage. Easily adjust exposure, gain, and frame rate and take full control of your imaging workflow from your Windows computer.
Built-in Guiding Functionality
In addition to imaging, the NexImage 20 can perform dual functions in your advanced astroimaging setup. Use it as a precise autoguide function for long-exposure, deep space astrophotography. With additional guiding hardware (not included), the NexImage 20 helps advanced users lock onto a target and maintain tracking accuracy over extended periods.
