The N 203/800 optics are incredibly high-speed and, therefore, ideally suited to astrophotography! You require a significantly shorter exposure time comparted to a system with a higher focal length. With its optional coma corrector, this Newtonian turns into an real astrograph.
Due to its design, the Newtonian telescope produces images with no colour errors. Unlike other telescope designs, where a lot of money needs to be invested in the lenses to minimise these errors.
With an 8 inch (approx. 203 millimetre) aperture, visual observations of nebulae and galaxies are a great pleasure too. The supplied extension tubes ensure the ability to reach the correct focal position.
An integrated fan provides fast cooling to the ambient temperature.
An 8-inch model is also still relatively easy to transport and only requires a medium-sized mount.
Carbon Fibre Tube
This apochromat is well suitable to visual observing but was, in fact, developed especially for astrophotography. Use the advantages of a carbon fibre tube: it is particularly light and so even perfectly suitable for using on smaller mounts. The tube also offers a very high inherent stability and only minimal thermal expansion. These advantages are particularly useful for astrophotography, as the focus remains stable for the whole night. The dew shield is also carbon fibre and can be extended easily. In addition, the tube is lined with black felt.
How the MONORAIL focuser works and its advantage over Crayford focusers:
Instead of small ball bearings, as in Crayford focusers, a solid stainless steel rail provides the bearing and also the lateral fixation.
The disadvantage of ball bearing Crayford focusers: The small ball bearings of the Crayford focuser are stressed when clamped. Since the clamping screw is not exactly between the ball bearings, one pair of ball bearings is subjected to greater stress. The result is tilting and blurred stars in one corner.
The advantage of the MONORAIL principle: the ball bearings are replaced by a stainless steel rail that is permanently connected to the extension tube. This prevents any twisting. Only the lateral guidance is still provided by ball bearings. However, these bearings only fix the lateral position and no longer have to absorb any load.
The extension tube is fixed in place by a clamping screw that is precisely centred on the top. This ensures that the entire structure is evenly loaded. There is absolutely no twisting and the extension tube remains 100% in the prescribed position.
The lower centre screw is used to adjust the friction (friction resistance) only.
